Batken discussed changes in the law “about Rights of Citizens in holding Peaceful Assembly”

As info-analytical agency “AKI press-Fergana” informed, on July 4 a live program “Open Microphone” by radio “Salam” was broadcasted in Batken in order to discuss changes in KR law “about Rights of Citizens in Peaceful Assembly”.

Representatives of political parties, state bodies, media and independent experts participated in the program. “Open Microphone” took place within the project “I choose this party because …” Batken branch of Public Union “For International Tolerance”.

The radio broadcasting was organized for the purpose of wide population informing about adopted changes and additions to the Law by deputies of KR, to give the listeners chance to get answers to interested issues and to give the representatives of different structures chance to state their position concerning the bill.

During discussions positive sides of the bill and articles which, according to participants, demand completions were revealed.

According to the expert from Center “Human Rights and Democracy” A. Akmatov “Kyrgyzstan is a democratic country that signed a number of international agreements and International Convention on Human Rights, but introducing to legislation allowing character directly strikes at the rights of citizens”.

Such positive sides of the bill as places for holding meetings, prohibition of road blocking, conducting strikes and demonstrations near schools, hospitals, and strategic objects were also noted.

At the end of the discussion participants came to a common opinion, until standards of holding meetings and until people associate meetings with the change of power, the president or dismissing somebody from his/her position. And first of all it is necessary to bring up standards of carrying out meetings and demonstrations, and to oblige for it the organizers.
